DESIGNER'S

TIPS

2025

  • Optimize the Layout: By prioritizing the "modern work triangle" - sink, stove, garbage. Ensuring the fridge and sink can be reached by a second kitchen worker.

  • Focus on Storage: Use deep drawers for pots and pans, pull-out shelves for easy access, and consider custom cabinetry for a clutter-free look.

  • Lighting Matters: Incorporate layered lighting with task, ambient, and accent lights to create a balanced and functional atmosphere.

  • Choose Durable Materials: Select surfaces like quartz countertops, stainless steel appliances, and tile backsplashes that are easy to clean and withstand daily wear.

  • Incorporate Multi-Functional Spaces: Add a kitchen island or breakfast bar that can serve as both a cooking space and a casual dining area.

  • Prioritize Ventilation: Install an efficient range hood to ensure proper air circulation, especially if your kitchen is open to other living spaces.

  • Stay Consistent with Style: Maintain a cohesive design theme by choosing complementary colors, finishes, and textures that work well together.

  • Add Personal Touches: Incorporate decor elements, such as plants or unique lighting fixtures, to give the kitchen character and warmth.

  • Keep Traffic Flow in Mind: Ensure there’s enough space between countertops and appliances for smooth movement and easy access while cooking, as well as ensuring that more than one person can exist and operate in the kitchen at once.

Be realistic about who you are and how you live. Keep in mind the key routine that take place everyday in your space - morning rush, dinnertime, coffee ritual, weekend activities + entertaining. What can help you streamline those routines so that it feels like your kitchen is adding to your life rather than taking away joy? (i.e., cluttered kitchen where nothing fits or flows VS. a kitchen customized for you that's easy to manage, and flows from one routine to the next.
